Norma and Norman open the Bates Motel.

The Bates Motel, formerly known as the Seafairer, has a long history in White Pine Bay.

Norma Bates is looking to put her complicated history behind her and start over in this sleepy, but lovely, town.

Deputy Zack Shelby (Mike Vogel) notices Norma right away.

Like most of the population of White Pine Bay, Deputy Shelby is courteous and helpful.

Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) is serious about his job. He's not as welcoming to the Bates' as the rest of the town.

Dylan Massett (Max Theiriot) is Norma's estranged son from her first marriage. He and Norma are not on the best of terms.

Like most kids his age, Norman has to go to school. Luckily for him, there's a bus stop right outside the motel.

Norman finds high school in White Pine Bay to be pretty overwhelming.

Norman's teacher, Miss Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy), takes an interest in him right off the bat.

Norman can't help but notice classmate Bradley Martin (Nicola Peltz). Bradley befriends Norman to be nice, but soon finds herself becoming more intrigued by the new kid in town.

Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke) doesn't let her cystic fibrosis prevent her from keeping up with her classmates.

She's even customized her oxygen tank.

Norman and Emma explore the lush forest surrounding town.

At the shop run by Emma's father, Norman and Emma work on some "homework."

Life isn't easy when you're a teenager. It doesn't get any easier when you have to pick up and start life all over in a new town...

...and it's especially not easy being Norman Bates.
