Aired on Mar 31, 2007After graduating from Yale University and playing for the NFL, Nathaniel “Than” Merrill decided to tackle the real estate business. A born leader, full of big ideas, Than saw money to be made flipping houses in New Haven, Connecticut. He called on his childhood friend, Paul Esajian, and together they created CT Homes. Their first challenge is a 650 square foot 3-bedroom “house” in New Haven. Jeremy brings in this dollhouse of a home and now the guys have to get to work. Winter weather leads to broken pipes and flooded basements and construction delays but Than and his crew are confident that this little home has a lot of heart and will make a perfect flip.
An Inspector Calls
Aired on Apr 07, 2007Ready to start flipping on her own, Angie discovers a great house in the trendier neighborhood of East Atlanta and brings eager, new investors, Peter and Brian, in on the deal. Angie works out a high-end renovation budget, and is determined to do everything by the book. But, what starts out as the perfect flip turns into a perfect nightmare. She welcomes city inspectors who uncover one problem after the next, threatening her profit margin and alarming Peter and Brian. With nitpicky inspectors and high-maintenance investors breathing down her neck, and a budget on the rise, will Angie be able to hack the pressure and flip this house?

The house on Venetian Way looks like a fairy tale cottage but “happily ever after” may not be in the cards with flaky contractors who find endless ways to drive up the budget. All of their big renovation ideas need to be reconsidered as mistakes are made, time is lost, and the contractors drag their heals. This is one flip that is going to cost them.

Aired on Apr 28, 2007A graffiti covered exterior and a fire damaged interior mean big potential profits on the latest Montelongo House Buyers acquisition — a run down duplex in a working class San Antonio neighborhood. On closer inspection, David and Armando wonder whether they underestimated what it will take to flip this house. Things start looking up when Armando finds a buyer early on, during the first stages of construction. But, the eager buyer gets cold feet after David discovers that the house has been condemned by the city and is scheduled to be demolished. The city agrees to give them a crack at proving the house is worth saving, and their now skeptical buyer agrees to reconsider a purchase, but only after they complete renovations. And then the real problems begin…
Little House of Horrors
Aired on May 05, 2007The Montelongos have met their match with a house that has accumulated years and years of filth. Feral cats and walls full of rats are the smallest of the problems. The house is in such bad shape that Armando can’t find a contractor to work the job, and is forced to hire an industrial cleaning service. They shovel eight dumpsters full of hazardous waste and uncover cats, rats, mold, and a major sewage problem. The Montelongo family spent thousands of dollars on clean up alone and now they’ve got to gut the place. Tensions rise as the money runs out and the family prepares to take a huge loss. Armando however, refuses to give up on this little house of horrors.

What looks to be a modest job turns out to be much more work than Angie or her investors bargained for. They have big plans to modernize this dated 40s charmer including a master bedroom addition and a complete kitchen remodel. When investor Brian starts finding problems and making costly decisions Angie and Harris have had enough. Can Angie keep her team together as they try and flip this house into the 21st century?

After buying it off of a fellow flipper, CT Homes is left with a major rehab and Paul and Than are butting heads. Than sees nothing but possibilities and wants to flip for a big profit while Paul just wants to pull it down. New England winter storms take their toll on an already difficult flip and tensions run high amongst the gang at CT Homes. Can Paul and Than put aside their differences and turn ashes into diamonds?

Danielle looks to Angie for help and inspiration. Can these two working moms make this house happen?

Aired on Jul 21, 2007Jeremy gets a great lead on a run-down 3 bedroom colonial in Hamden, CT and vows to turn the property into the “pride of Hamden.” This lofty goal hits an immediate snag when the team discovers that the previous tenants left the home full of their junk. JD’s quick thinking turns lemons into lemonade when he decides to hold a yard sale. Back on track the team encounters a larger problem — steam pipes are blocking a planned expansion of the kitchen. Pipe problems are just the beginning as the guys rush to finish the project in time and on budget. Will Than and his team be able to come out on top with this flip or is it just another pipe dream?
