Rudy and Carlos find a Spanish-style bungalow in LA’s Mount Washington neighborhood — the views are great, but the house needs some TLC. The price is right but there’s a catch–the front retaining wall is on the verge of collapsing into the street. In order to close on the property, Rudy must agree to fix the wall. It could be a costly repair, but Rudy takes the gamble and buys. The long abandoned house requires a complete interior renovation. The backyard presents more challenges — it was once a gorgeous, terraced garden overlooking rolling hills and the distant city skyline but years of neglect have left it an overgrown jungle. With the financial crisis looming, Rudy decides to play it safe and take on the role of general contractor. While he may save some money, he may lose his sanity.
