Panic 9-1-1

One part thriller and one part true-crime show, this new series features the real, urgent, unrehearsed, 911 call audio between emergency dispatchers and frantic callers–in real-time–as life and death situations unfold around them. In this episode we meet three callers who under extreme duress must make critical choices as the lives of strangers, loved-ones and themselves are violently threatened. In San Jose, California, a single mother with a gun must decide whether to face her would-be rapist unarmed or risk being accidentally shot by police rushing to save her. After a lone gunman starts shooting in a local sporting goods store in Macomb, Illinois, the store’s manager must choose whether to flee the scene or stay on the line in order to save those around him. On a dark night in rural Oklahoma, a grandmother faces the grim possibility of using deadly force to protect herself from an intruder.

The situations in the this episode are close calls. A pregnant woman in suburban Denver is helpless as she is attacked by her stalker in her secluded home. In Indiana, neighbors and paramedics rush to save two girls who have fallen through the ice on a frozen lake. A single mother is hunted by her ex-boyfriend on a North Carolina highway at high speeds.

In an upscale suburb of Connecticut, a bitter divorce battle drives Richard Shenkman to kidnap his ex-wife and make numerous taunting and threatening calls to 911 as he holds her hostage in their former home.
