On July 10, 2008, Melissa Lucio was sentenced to death for the murder of her two-year-old daughter, Mariah, and in January 2022 she was given an official execution date of April 27, 2022. Melissa would be the first Hispanic woman put to death in the state of Texas. With only three months before Melissa’s execution, the Innocence Project digs into her case and uncovers staggering problems, but authorities show no sign of intervening, despite growing interest from the public and a bi-partisan group of politicians. In Melissa’s final hours, the nation erupts in protest in fear that an innocent woman is about to be put to death.
